It’s an occasion that we at Tblustar feel particularly close to, as it reflects a topic that touches everyone who carries out a working activity: health and safety at work.

We are a company that operates innovatively in the portable chemical toilet sector, and our products serve workers on a daily basis. For this reason, we believe that safety is not built solely with hard hats and harnesses: it is also built with adequate sanitary facilities, dignified conditions, and respect for the regulations that protect those who work.

Legislative Decree 81/2008: what the law says about sanitary facilities on construction sites

Many entrepreneurs and site managers are well acquainted with the regulations on PPE, scaffolding, and mandatory training. Less well known, however, are the obligations concerning sanitary facilities. Legislative Decree 81/2008, 81/2008the Consolidated Law on Workplace Safety, is very clear on this matter, particularly in Annex XIII dedicated to temporary and mobile construction sites.

The regulation establishes that every construction site must be equipped with a sufficient number of sanitary facilities, built in a way that ensures privacy and minimises health risks.

The UNI EN 16194:2012 standard, which integrates and specifies the technical requirements for portable chemical toilets, sets precise standards:

at least one toilet for every 10 workers present on site simultaneously

a maximum distance of 100 metres from the workstation

minimum internal dimensions

adequate ventilation

a regular cleaning and sanitisation regime.

Failure to comply with these requirements is not merely an ethical matter: it exposes the employer to criminal and administrative sanctions under Article 159 of Legislative Decree 81/2008, ranging from arrest of up to six months to fines of up to €12,000.

But even before the sanctions, there is something more important: respect for the dignity of those who work. A worker without access to decent sanitary facilities, who must move excessively far from their workstation, or who operates in poor hygienic conditions, is a more stressed, less focused, and consequently less safe worker.

Why hygiene on construction sites is an integral part of safety

When discussing accident prevention, the tendency is to think about the most visible and immediate risks. In reality, workplace safety is a much broader concept, encompassing the overall physical and psychological wellbeing of the worker.

Having access to a clean, functioning toilet close to one’s workstation may seem like a secondary detail, but it directly affects the health, productivity, and peace of mind of those who spend hours and hours on a construction site.

A working environment that respects workers in every aspect, including the hygienic one, is an environment in which people work better, with greater attention and fewer risks. We at Tblustar genuinely believe this. That is why we design and produce portable chemical toilets that serve as true professional solutions, conceived to meet the real needs of those working in the field.

Tblustar solutions for construction sites: quality, compliance, and innovation

Our range includes models specifically designed for the most demanding working environments.

The T-WORK, one of the units in our premium line, combines robustness and comfort in a single product: washbasin and pedal-operated WC, toilet paper, soap, and towel dispensers, ventilation system with presence sensors, and large-capacity tanks (650 litres for waste and 300 for water). It is designed for long-duration construction sites where operational efficiency cannot be separated from high hygiene standards.

The T-STAR, on the other hand, is our most innovative product — and one of the most revolutionary in the entire sector worldwide. Internationally patented, it can be assembled and disassembled in just 3 minutes by a single operator. It weighs only 75 kg, all components remain under 25 kg (in full compliance with manual load-handling regulations), and it is designed to maximise logistical efficiency: a standard articulated lorry can carry up to 96 T-STAR units, compared to 24 for a traditional portable toilet. This translates into a 75% reduction in CO₂ emissions per transport: less environmental impact, greater efficiency, reduced costs.

For construction sites that must also meet accessibility requirements, the Space FlatBase model offers a flat-floor solution that allows access for people with reduced mobility, in compliance with current regulations.

Exclusively for the Italian market, for companies that prefer rental over purchase, our Syrio Rental Program is the first long-term operational leasing programme. It offers a flexible solution that includes technical assistance, personalised supply, and ongoing operational support, ideal for those managing temporary construction sites or looking to optimise costs without sacrificing quality.

Our commitment: standing by workers every day

28 April reminds us that workplace safety must be a concrete priority, not a bureaucratic formality. But we at Tblustar don’t wait for this date to renew our commitment: we do it every day, through products that meet and often exceed regulatory standards, through the continuous pursuit of more innovative, sustainable solutions suited to the challenges of an ever-evolving sector.

We believe that a safe construction site is, above all, a site where every worker feels respected. And ensuring adequate sanitary facilities is one of the most concrete and immediate ways to demonstrate it.
If you are a construction company, a rental operator, or a safety officer and would like to find out which Tblustar solution best suits your needs, contact us: we will be happy to help you find the right product for your site, in full compliance with Legislative Decree 81/2008 and current regulations.

On 28 April, as every year, the World Day for Safety and Health at Work is celebrated, established by the International Labour Organization (ILO) in 2003.
